A clue to effective intelligence is found in Birth Order. We have found that the most intelligent person is the oldest child who is Third Born in personality. (See the post “A Super Intelligent Third Born” in birthorder.) Knowing that Third Borns think by comparing we realized that intelligence is the ability to compare things.
Every child begins life by constantly comparing new experiences with memories of past experiences. Consequently, children learn more in the first five years of life than they do in any other five-year period in their lives. If a child could continue this comparing think how intelligent could this child be!
Unfortunately, comparing is stifled. When the child makes a comparison that is funny to others, like calling a rabbit a dog, the child experiences shame at being laughed at. At that point the child becomes cautious about comparing so effective intelligence becomes limited. Before making a comparison, the child looks to see if it meets approval from others.
The child also learns to make comparisons aimed at things other than toward figuring things out. For example, Onlies compare how things are to how they expect them to be. First Borns compare their opinions to others’ opinions. Second Borns compare what they do to what others do. Third Borns compare what others do to what they (others) could do. Fourth Born compare details to analyze. The energy used in making these comparisons limits effective intelligence for figuring things out.
In adult life effective intelligence is limited when childhood memories of compulsive comparing are triggered. These memories are triggered whenever a person feels compelled to figure things out. The ability to compare is stifled just when a person needs it. To change this we have your subconscious disconnect those compulsive memories of having to compare. So, say to yourself,
Forget the memories that make you compare.
Of course, you have often figured things out by making comparisons throughout your life. We want these memories to support your ability to compare so say to yourself,
Remember the memories that let you compare.
In about three days you should experience your mind being more active in processing what you are experiencing. Your awareness, focus and creativity should all show improvement. Your effective intelligence will have been enhanced.
